Fashion hats by Miss Annie Hughes。A remarkable fashion statement, this 1940s toque (A woman\'s small hat, typically having a narrow, closely turned-up brim) is made ion burgundy colorless felt. The round crown has an upturned brim only in the front, which is creatively braided with burgundy satin strips, completing an unusual look. There is a large felt bow on the right side of the hat, ending with a pink ostrich feather. The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war and on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling and artificial flowers were popular. There is no label, indicating it is a custom-made creation. This hat is in wonderful vintage condition and has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Mannequin not for sale.
